October 30, 2025 – We know that children are the least responsible for climate change and yet the most vulnerable to its impacts. Investing in children, from the early years through the life course, builds resilience and serves as a powerful strategy to combat climate change. Unfortunately, these policy solutions have remained on the periphery of global climate negotiations.
With COP30 approaching, the webinar provided a critical moment to shift the discourse and position children at the center of climate negotiations. During the session, participants heard from partners leading these efforts and learned what could be done in their own countries to help. Specifically, they explored:
- Why COP is critical to the child rights agenda
- The policy and financing opportunities at stake at COP30 and at national levels
- Global, regional, and national efforts to elevate children’s needs within the climate agenda
- Key messages, tools, and resources to support advocacy efforts at home
It was an important opportunity to learn from child rights advocates around the world — including UNICEF, the Alana Institute, Child Rights International Network, and others — who are working to put children at the center of the climate change agenda.
