Mobile Creches (MC) is a leading organization for Early Childhood Development (ECD) in India. Headquartered in New Delhi, it works across the country at the grassroots level for young children, under 6 years of age, with a focus on the most vulnerable children from migrant families and slum dwellers. The organization has developed high impact training resources to build capacities of early childhood care workers across government and non-government settings. MC instituted a study to examine the need for creches in India from a women’s rights’ perspective to build evidence that would support the need for a nation-wide campaign demanding creches for women from disadvantaged communities. This report is based on the study carried out in 4 states (Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Odisha) in India.
