October 30, 2024 – This piece introduces the Brookings Center for Universal Education’s two-year initiative to run a “premortem” on generative AI in global education: a forward-looking exercise to identify potential first- and second-order negative impacts before they happen, explore ways to mitigate them, and find strategies so AI can help educators address pressing problems while supporting teachers and students.
