June 2021 – This study published in BMJ Global Health reports the findings of a randomized control trial in Uganda that investigated how a district management strategy informed by local data and community dialogue influenced health services for children.
The study found that data-driven district management interventions can positively impact child health outcomes, with clinically significant improvements in the treatment of malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea as well as stool disposal. The findings recommend the model’s suitability for health systems strengthening in Uganda and other decentralized contexts.
