April 2025 – UNESCO released a report, Education and Nutrition: Learn to Eat Well—part of the Global Education Monitoring Report—highlighting education as the missing link to combat rising food insecurity and obesity. It emphasizes that education empowers people to make healthier food choices, trains farmers to build sustainable food systems, and strengthens school meal programs that support both learning and well-being. It is the second in a series of publications by the GEM Report aimed at advancing research and monitoring of the inter-relationship between education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the first of which was on the climate.
