April 2025 – This article published in the International Journal of Educational Development provides the first estimates of the cost of inaction in Sub-Saharan Africa of not investing in nutrition, stimulation, nurturing care, and preprimary programs for young children under five years old. The authors simulated the cost of inaction of under-investment in those three dimensions. The results suggest that future Gross Domestic Product (GDP) could range from 1.6% to 3% for the different dimensions.
