Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Emergencies

May 2016 – This Health and Education Advice & Resource Team reading pack focuses on ECD in emergencies, which can be caused by natural hazards (e.g. earthquakes, typhoons) and conflicts. An emergency can last from three months to decades depending on the severity of the event and the country’s ability to cope with it. It causes both internal displacement and results in people becoming refugees. This pack starts with the evidence for why ECD is important in emergencies and then goes into examining its impact.
