February 2025 – UNICEF released a guidance for developing Nationally Determined Contributions for and with children and young people. Despite the societal benefits of centering children and young people in climate policies through consideration of their specific needs, as well as their perspectives, they are too often excluded from crucial climate policies and policymaking. This toolkit is the first in a series of resources aimed to support government representatives and decision makers in making their NDCs more child and youth sensitive across the entire policy process. It supports the writing and development of NDCs, from the planning stages to the finalization of the document.
