Good-quality data are key to eliminating discrimination based on disability and to accelerating global progress towards inclusive policies and programmes.
The Child Functioning Module, developed by UNICEF and the Washington Group on Disability Statistics in 2016, has been utilized in over 60 countries to collect data on the well-being of children with disabilities. These data formed the basis for UNICEF’s groundbreaking 2021 report, Seen, Counted, Included: Using Data to Shed Light on the Well-being of Children with Disabilities, the largest compilation of statistics on children with disabilities to date. Updated global, regional and country estimates are now being released in a new report including an assessment of how children with disabilities are faring with respect to key SDG indicators.
To address data gaps in crisis contexts, UNICEF and the Washington Group on Disability Statistics have developed the Child Functioning Module – Humanitarian Version, which will be launched at the event.
