For over a decade, PATH has designed, tested, and scaled up approaches that expand the scope of primary health care (PHC) promote more comprehensive early childhood development (ECD)—and increasingly, maternal mental health and support for young children with disabilities and developmental delays.
PATH has partnered with governments to scale up such integrated ECD service delivery through PHC in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Mozambique, reaching unprecedented scale. We have also seeded integrated PHC-ECD programming and strengthened the enabling environment for ECD within PHC in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Turkey, and Zambia. Their work provides relevant real-world models to contextualize the Nurturing Care Framework, which explicitly calls for PHC to promote ECD.
This webinar will bring together experts from the World Health Organization, Ministry of Health Kenya, Ministry of Health Mozambique, African Center for Early Childhood Development (Ethiopia), and PATH to discuss the evolution of the PHC-ECD model, share successes and lessons learned, and highlight a newly launched compendium of useful programming resources available for promoting ECD and maternal mental health through PHC.
