Introduction to a New Online Smart digital Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (Smart dIMCI) course

In an effort to increase access to high quality child health services and meet the demands for scaling up training of primary health care workers in Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), WHO has developed an online smart digital IMCI course. The course is one of the options for training health workers in IMCI and can be accessed online on the WHO Academy Platform on various electronic devices (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone) here. The course is intended for training of nurses, clinicians and doctors managing sick children with common childhood illnesses at primary health care level.

The Smart dIMCI course is composed of 13 modules organized in 5 parts:

  • Part 1: Introduction to IMCI case management process
  • Part 2: Management of the sick young infant aged up to 2 months
  • Part 3: Management of sick child aged 2 months up to 5 years
  • Part 4: Management sick young infant or child with HIV/AIDS
  • Part 5: Well child care
