Country Profile:

Panama

The “Country Profiles for Early Childhood Development” are developed by UNICEF in collaboration with Countdown to 2030 Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s Health. The profiles are an attempt to compile, in one place, the available data for country and cross-country monitoring and to provide a baseline against which progress can be monitored.

The profiles are updated bi-annually. An initial set of 91 country profiles was released in May 2018, alongside the launch of the Nurturing Care Framework. The set was expanded and updated to include 138 low- and middle-income countries in 2019.

In 2020, the existing profiles for 138 countries were updated and new profiles were developed for 59 high-income countries, yielding profiles for 197 countries. These profiles were updated in 2021 and most recently, 2023. The country profiles feature data on 40 indicators relevant to ECD and translations are available in Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish.
